Coinbase announcements are dropping faster than exchange hacks these days. It’s just released a brand-new plugin that makes accepting cryptocurrency way easier for millions of websites.
Coinbase, digital currency exchange headquartered in San Francisco has released a new plugin to enable millions of websites to trade major cryptocurrencies including Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin and Bitcoin Cash.
In addition to this, the plugin allows merchants to accept cryptocurrency payments directly from their customers from anywhere in the world.
The new plugin, spotted by DailyHodl, enables WooCommerce webstores to accept major cryptocurrencies directly into a user-controlled Coinbase wallet.
WooCommerce webstores are powered by WordPress, who claim that 28 percent of the internet’s online stores are using it for their businesses – but it’s likely to be closer to 40 percent.
The plugin has been posted on the Coinbase Github with instructions on how to add it to WordPress. It is hoped that the majority of webstores will enable crypto payments to increase overall adoption.
Necessary instructions to use it have also been published along with it. The appearance of plugin to end users will be nothing more than a button, as the rest is handled by Coinbase app.
Stores can now accept crypto-payments by adding a small button to their WordPress page. For now, just Bitcoin and Litecoin can be accepted.
Webstores accepting cryptocurrencies is nothing new. At this stage, whatever is left of the fight for mainstream adoption, those looking to establish themselves will have to go toe-to-toe with Coinbase.
