How to take screenshot in Xbox One

November 18, 2017

The Xbox One is capable of producing some truly jaw-dropping experiences, and sometimes, you can’t help but stop and marvel at your television display.

Trying to do just one simple thing seems to have 360 steps with Microsoft – why is the Xbox One’s functionality such a car crash?

You can only take a screenshot in a game, not in the Xbox One’s dashboard interface.

There are two ways of taking screenshots on the Xbox One, but first you need to make sure that the latest system updates are installed on the console.

Method 1 – Using Controller

You can take a screenshot of your current gameplay using the Xbox One controller.

Double tap on the Xbox button on your controller to bring up the Quick Menu. The following options are available:

– Press Y to save screenshot

– Press X to record that

Press Y to save the screenshot and return to the game screen. A small notification will be displayed: Screenshot Saved.

NB: the second option records a gameplay footage using the Xbox’s One integrated DVR feature.

Method 2 – Voice Commands

If your Xbox One is equipped with a Kinect, then you can also take screenshots using this simple voice command: Xbox One take screenshot.

The images save as Full HD, 1920×1080 resolution PNG files.

If you’re looking for them in OneDrive, head into the default Pictures folder and a new sub-folder will have been created called “Xbox Screenshots”
